Our desktop browser extension meets you where you already shop. By detecting eligible merchants while you browse, it automatically surfaces available coupons and cashback opportunities. Simply activate the offer or use our auto-apply coupon feature at checkout to earn cash-back rewards that can be easily tracked and redeemed.

Process Overview

1. Step 1: Program Architecture & Authentication Strategy

   • The Split Model: Determine if the partner will manage the user's rewards dashboard and payouts (a 2-way split) or if Wildfire will host the dashboard and pay users directly (a 3-way split).
   • Authentication Method: Decide how the extension will identify users to properly attribute their cash back. This could be a secure OAuth integration, a lightweight tracking ID (UUID) pass-through, or a Wildfire-managed login (Google/Apple).

2. Step 2: Intake, Design & Configuration

   • Asset Intake: Provide Wildfire with your brand assets, including logos, color palettes, and typography.
   • Design Review: Wildfire develops the browser extension in accordance with the partner's custom designs and brand guidelines.

3. Step 3: Core Integrations (Auth, Earnings, & Payouts)

   • Authentication: The partner enables their OAuth server or sets up basic browser-based authentication to securely pass the user's ID to the extension.
   • Data Syncing: If the partner is hosting their own rewards program, they will set up Webhook Callbacks and connect to the Commission API to ingest transaction data.

4. Step 4: QA & End-to-End Testing

   • Manual Loading: Wildfire delivers the completed extension build to the partner as a ZIP file.
   • Testing: The partner's team manually loads this unpacked ZIP file directly into their Chrome or Edge browser to conduct end-to-end QA testing. This ensures the authentication handshake, affiliate link tracking, and user experience all perform flawlessly prior to store submission.

5. Step 5: Webstore Publication

   • Publication: Depending on agreement, if not partner managed, Wildfire handles the administrative burden of creating the necessary web store accounts and publishing the extension.

FAQ

How does the extension track which user makes a purchase?

Extensions use a Tracking Code (TC) parameter—typically a UUID—to identify users and attribute their cashback properly. This provided TC is also in each commission record returned by our Commission API.

Does the extension automatically apply coupons?

Yes, the extension has a coupon 1-click apply feature which automatically finds input fields, tests available promo codes, and applies the best discount to the user's cart. This feature is available to both logged-in & logged-out users.

What happens if a user is already using another affiliate site?

To remain compliant with affiliate network rules, the extension employs a Stand-Down Policy. If a user clicks an affiliate link from another publisher (like a blog or a competitor's extension), Wildfire's extension will detect specific URL parameters or redirect domains and will silently stand down.

What if a user loses their cashback tracking while shopping?

If a user activates an offer via the Wildfire extension but later performs an action that steals the attribution—such as clicking a competing affiliate link on a deals website, the extension will trigger the Cashback Comeback Alert. This feature pops up to inform the user that their last action caused them to lose their cashback attribution, giving them the opportunity to quickly reactivate the Wildfire offer before checking out.
